Inserting new craft capabilities into repurposed wooden materials is no simple task, as many crafters know. Doing so through wood-turning-in-action is a bit more challenging still. CARPA’s Phoenix program, which hopes to repurpose retired wood pieces while they remain in social orbit, seeks to fundamentally change how socio-political craft systems could be designed and sustained in Forward Operation Positions (FOPs).
