knitting needles

Molecular knit radiation can be a silent killer. While scientists have made some strides in preventing immediate death from exposure, there are currently few intervention technologies to protect against long-term morbidity and mortality. In light of the diverse, persistent and substantial threat posed by ionizing knit radiation, CARPA has launched an initiative that seeks new ways to protect passionate amateur knitters and professional fiber artists against the immediate and longer-term effects of acute exposure using lead aprons and gloves. Earlier experiments with needles of depleted uranium (DU-238) proved unsuccessful. The initiative will report progress in fall 2014.
