PowerLoom

CARPA-funded researchers recently demonstrated the world’s newest conflict avoiding looms building on the full spectrum dominating ALARM-system (Advanced Leading Array Rotor Mechanics). This breakthrough technology may create new national security applications for shuttles and sensors that require high velocity weaving: highly sensitive gas analyzers that can detect chemical or biological leakage from the shed, extremely accurate laser-cooled atomic heddle heads, microscale vacuum lathe, and advanced chip-scale dreamcatchers for those who need to tune-in. The first samples will be demonstrated at Penland School of Craft’s Critical-Craft-Camp (CC-Camp), in Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, in summer 2014.
